Senior Researcher (Drones)

The Metrosert Applied Research Centre (ARC) is looking for a Senior Researcher in the field of Drone Technologies to join our team. The role focuses on the research, development, and innovation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and involves participating in international collaborations. 

🚀 Key Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate and supervise research and development activities in the drone technology sector's communication, navigation, and electronics to ensure their effectiveness;

• Apply theoretical knowledge to support internal development projects and provide research and development services to external companies;

• Supervise the members of the drone technology unit in their research and development activities; 

• Get involved in global projects within the drone technology industry and help enable participation;

• Contribute to formulating the strategy for the drone technology sector;

• Able to use knowledge in the drone technology sector to promote education and learning;

• Represent the ARC in industry associations.  

⭐ Qualifications:

• PhD in natural sciences, engineering, or technical sciences;

• Previous experience as a lead or senior researcher at a research institution is beneficial;

• International experience, such as a PhD overseas or managing international cooperation projects;

• Proficiency in team or project management, with a preference for experience in grant project management;

• Knowledge of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems;

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in research and development of communication and navigation electronics is preferred;

• Proficient in analyzing and presenting research findings effectively. 

• Ability to write scientific articles and reports;

• Independence, innovation, a solution-oriented mindset, and strong communication and negotiation skills;

• Knowledge of research ethics and data protection;

• Fluent in English at a C1 level; knowledge of Estonian is a plus;

• Preferred international experience, network in the drone sector, and knowledge of drone-related regulations and standards;

• Knowledge of drone construction, control, subsystems, and their integration is an advantage.
